In response to the negative feedback I have received regarding the Halloween contest I am appalled. The initial intent of having this contest was for fun. Mike Ivey had suggested doing it last year. I thought it was a great idea and that it would help draw us closer as neighbors and another fun activity we could do as a community so I helped in advertising this event.
I had not heard from Mike at the beginning of the week on who was going to judge the contest and when. Friday evening Mike emailed the board stating that he was going to do the judging Saturday evening and those who wanted to join in helping meet at the pool at 8pm. Mike and I were the only 2 that didn't have other obligations going on that evening so we drove around the sub finding the best decorated homes. Not once had we ever said that the judging would be done on 'Sunday' night. In my previous post I had said that it would take place that 'weekend'. I have kids too and wanted to spend my Halloween evening with them much like yourselves. For you to attack Mike and I for doing something nice and going out of our way to do this contest is unbelievable. At this point we are not sure we want to do another contest for Christmas after the way people have reacted and attacked Mike and I for judging on Saturday. Even bringing someone else's religion into the mix is sickening. I'm sorry for those that missed out on this contest by not decorating until the day of. IF we have another contest we will keep this in mind next year. I can guarantee you that I will NOT be out on Christmas Eve or Day judging for the Christmas contest should we decide to do it.

Overview of 9/14 Board Meeting
Thank you to all of you that attended last night's board meeting. It was nice to have a bigger turn out and see the homeowners involvement. Some things that were discussed are as follows:
All the walkways will be getting a new slurry coat finish this next month. This is part of the maintenance phase to keep them from deteriorating.
If you notice any broken sprinkler heads, vandalism, etc ... please inform Joe at Snake River HOA with the problem and the area. Thank you!
Mike Ivey is still looking for more volunteers for the Social Committee and also for the Neighborhood Watch Program.
The pool is still open. We have extended the closing date as long as the weather permits.
If you are interested in coming to the meetings everyone is invited. If you have an issue you'd like to address please email or call Joe at Snake River HOA 855-0505 with your issue so that he can address it on the agenda.
