Neighborhood Watch Alert!

This happened in Lochsa Falls
Friends and Neighbors:: This morning at about 7:15 a man in a silver truck tried to abduct my neighbor's 12 year old son on his way to the bus stop!!! He tried to get him in his truck a couple of times, Andrew told him no and then ran to his bus stop where the other kids were. They filed a police report, but Andrew didn't get many details since it was dark and he was caught off guard. This was near the main park around the horse loop. The man pulled up alongside Andrew, and asked him if he wanted to check out his new truck, Andrew responded no and kept walking. The man then said, come on in and I'll give you a ride to where your going. Andrew again said no, then the man got mad and started yelling for him to get in. Andrew ran the rest of the way to the bus stop and told his teachers when he got to school. Please pass this along to all your Lochsa Falls neighbors and remind your children never to talk to strangers.

Minutes from Board Meeting

3/8/11
Saguaro Canyon HOA Board Meeting Minutes

Roll call – Attending Joe, Brad, Eric, Scott, Doug, Robyn, Mary and Lauren Moison
Mary went over ACC landscaping guidelines for our subdivision. There is a 13 page document that has which plants and sized are acceptable to plant. Mary takes care of all new builds and Scott takes care of existing homes.  If Scott can’t answer a question or a homeowner wants to deviate he will refer the question onto Mary. We may want to put together a ‘do not plant’ list to add to the guidelines. We may also want to ask the City of Meridian for ‘approved trees’ list.
Mary is auditing standards and addressing violations. Scott is going to start enforcing violations in stained fences, porch lights, and making sure chimney stacks are black. Also talked about possibly placing liens on BHH lots to insure ACC standards and compliance.

Election of Officers – Joe
President – Brad (1 year remaining)
VP – Doug (3 years)
Treasurer – Eric (1 year remaining)
Secretary – Robyn (2 years)
Scott – 3 years

Financial Report – Joe
Checking account has $236,000, Money market $75,000, CD $25,000 and accounts receivables $127,900.
Eric suggested we move some of the money from the money market account to open another 25k CD. Also move all but 100k from checking into money market account.

Landscaping – Joe
Need to spray for weeds within the next 30 days. Burnt out lights are being replaced. Suggested to add about 5 more lights. Joe is going to get a bid.

Scott asked if minutes for future meetings be sent via email instead of hardcopy.

No future amenities will be built this year due to the discount of the HOA dues this year. We may consider next year.

Meeting  adjoured.

3 Way Stop

One of our Homeowners called Ada County Highway District to find out why they put the 3 way stop at the intersection of Saguaro Hills & Segundo. They have been placed due to the construction work in widening the intersection of Locust Grove & McMillan. Once that project is finish, which is suppose to be this fall, the stop signs will be removed.

Bunko!

Hey Ladies! We are trying to put together a Bunko league. This is a great way to get to know each other and have some super fun girl time! It's once a month and we are thinking possibly on a Saturday night. For those that don't know what it is here is a brief description:
Bunko is a game of dice, played in rounds. Players take turns rolling the dice and trying to accumulate as many points as possible to win each round. The game is played at tables of four in competing teams of two.

Short cuts??

We have had some complaints about people driving through vacant lots and also cutting through Ventana subdivision to create a short cut to get to Heritage Middle School. We are asking that you please not do this. For one it causes an eyesore to look at and for two it is causing a muddy mess. Please use the paved roads that have been provided to us to use in the neighborhood. Thank you very much.

Notes from Annual HOA Meeting

On Tuesday night we had our Annual HOA Meeting. We did not have enough for a quorum. For our subdivision we need 125 people to attend. We only had 59 show up. So we did a popular vote for the board members and then Brad Hom & Eric Rawlings vote in the board members. The new HOA board is as follows:
President/Neighborhood Watch - Brad Hom
Treasurer/Landscaping - Eric Rawlings
Newsletter/Social Committee - Robyn Baird
Social/Pool Committee - Doug Nicolls
ACC Committee - Scott Robertson

We discuss the budget for this new year. Currently we had a cash flow of $200,000. This year we are offering a discount on the HOA dues. If you pay before March 1st it will only be $540 instead of the standard $640. You also have the option of paying in 2 installments of $350.
I'm excited to work with Doug and Scott. They are both excellent additions to our board. I would like to put more activities together this year as part of the social committee. My goal is to make our subdivision a 'tight' neighborhood. Where we can enjoy each others company and a place to feel safe for our children. Getting to know each other is the best way of doing this. I would like to have a couple of BBQ's this year around the pool area. We will also be doing 2 garage sales this year. One in the spring and another the end of summer/fall. We will also have decorating contests for Halloween & Christmas. If you have any suggestions that you would like to see this year, please feel free to comment or email me at robynbaird@gmail.com.
