  3. Let me get this strait. Halloween is October 31st but you decided to judge October 30th! According to your newsletter you stated that there was a halloween decorating contest and on your calender of events Halloween was listed as October 31st. It would have been nice if someone would have informed the rest of us that Halloween had been changed. According to my calender and your newsletter it is the 31st., I understand that some church groups decided to celebrate on Saturday. Thats fine for them, you have that right, But please don't think you have the right to change it for the rest of us. My son and I planned for weeks to decorate our house. We put out a lot of effort and our time to be able to do an awesome job. It,s not so much that we didn,t win it's the fact we did not even have the opportunity to compete. Anyone that came down Senita Hills on Halloween night got to trick or treat at a real Halloween house!!!!... SHAME ON YOU

  4. Wow anonymous - that is a very intense post....thanks for sharing....

The board's intention was to give incentive to the neighborhood to decorate their homes so that we could enjoys each others festive homes. It was not to create an intense competitive environment. The two judges from the board did judge the homes on Saturday night, October 30. They went on Saturday night because they wanted to be with their families on Halloween. This would have happened if October 30 was Friday and October 31 was Saturday. It was in no way an attempt to make any sort of religious implication as assumed in the previous post.

In the future, we will do a better job communicating; however, please be mindful that this was a meant to encourage friendship. I am not sure that showing young children (trick or treaters)a "real halloween house" accomplishes our goal of being more friendly neighbors......but noted. Anonymous, please feel free to come to our next board meeting to discuss further.

  5. Unless I am mistaken, the previous post on the BLOG entitled "Halloween Contest" said "the Social Committee will be judging the houses for the top 3 best decorated this weekend". It did not specify which day at all. And you do realize that when you post a comment as anonymous it can easily be traced back to your ISP, IP, and address of the computer that IP is registered to right?

  6. Perhaps a solution to this conflict is to let homeowners know exactly which day the homes will be judged--that way homes that want to participate in the contests will know a deadline they will need to meet.

With regards to having homes judged before the holiday--I think it is a great idea. It gives homeowners the opportunity to visit the winning homes on (or before) the holiday and enjoy the decorations before the holiday is over and decorations are taken down.
