Neighborhood Watch
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH UPDATE:
On Wednesday night a homeowner on Pasacana St. had an attempted burglary. The homeowner's daughter heard some noise outside her window so she drew back the curtain and saw a man with a mask on at her window. He ran off before they could catch him. He entered through the gate into the backyard. PLEASE be on alert and lock your doors & windows.

Christmas Lights
Yesterday while everyone was having a great time sledding down the hills at the front of the sub some damage was done to the Christmas lights. There were 10-12 trees unplugged and 3 that had the plug ripped out of the lights. Three of the light strands will now need to be replaced. PLEASE talk to your kids about not messing with the lights. If we have to keep replacing the lights will we will have to just take them down. Thank you everyone for your cooperation.

August HOA meeting minutes
August 13, 2013 Saguaro Canyon HOA Meeting
6:00 PM at the Pool
In attendance: Ashley, Robyn, Mike, Scott, & Joe.
Minutes from last meeting approved.
Water is an issue. Irrigation will be shut off September 2. Hoping for the best with our grass and shrubs.
Financials: Approved. Total is at $454, 228.59 with about $100,000 in refundable deposits so actual cash balance reflects at $354,228.59.
Landscape: Jock and Ashley did a detailed drive around with Steve. Dead Rosetta’s to be replaced with living desert scape plants but we want to wait until fall or possibly next spring so we can make sure they get watered properly. Steve and crew have applied slow time release fertilizer to hopefully get us through this dry period. Water schedule has been adjusted. Steve pointed out areas in which they have trouble with the grass. One of which is the common area behind Ocelot. Homeowners whose homes back up to this area were present and suggested we replace a lot of this grass that is difficult to keep up (it’s either dead or soggy) with a rock-scape and planter type area. This will solve two issues, one of grass that’s difficult to keep up and two offer a little more privacy for the homeowners. Joe will talk to Steve about seeing what might be able to be done. The contractor sign on the corner of Red Horse and Senita Canyon has been requested to be taken down. Even though the building is going on mainly in the back of the sub, we are legally advised to keep it up until building is completed.
Social: NNO went great. The volleyball net and ball are still up and we will keep that up until summer is over. We are looking towards the fall for our annual garage sale; tentative date will be October 5 so please plan for that. Then we look forward to Halloween and Christmas decorating contests. There has been a committee of home owners who will be doing the judging for the contest.
ACC: All is up to date.
Violations: Approved.
Pool: Letters were sent out regarding swim diapers, fecal matter and vandalism. If the pool is closed for any of these issues, we are asking homeowners to please not remove the pool closed sign.
Neighborhood Watch: Quiet around the subdivision which is good news. The only report has been of a stolen bike. Please don’t steal.
Old Business: The tree program is on pause right now due to irrigation shut off. The landscape lights ion the common areas have been repaired and turned back on. Curtis Clean sweep will be coming this week to clean the streets. We are still researching a way to put in an entrance in the back of the subdivision on Pasacana and Saguaro Hills. Please contact a board member if you have any feedback about this. Speeding in the neighborhood is still and issue and concern. Please slow down and be respectful of your neighbors. Joe and the board members are still receiving complaints. Any possible solutions other than speed bumps would be greatly appreciated.
Next meeting will be September 10, 2013 6:00 PM at the pool. We would love to have everyone join us.
Meeting adjourned.

North End homes in SC
In discussion with Settlers Irrigation, they have not updated the irrigation schedule list since it was originally published so the new homes in Saguaro Canyon have not been added to the list. I asked for interim direction from them for these unlisted homes (many in Saguaro). They suggested that these homes be on a odd - even schedule (Odd - Monday, Wednesday, Friday) (Even - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) (Sunday - open watering day) and water in the EVENINGS ON THOSE DAYS.

Watering schedule
Date: July 24, 2013
To: Saguaro Canyon Homeowners
Subject: Irrigation Water
From: Saguaro Canyon HOA Board of Directors
Yesterday, July 23rd, we received the following information from Settlers Irrigation. Settlers Irrigation Company supplies the irrigation water to our subdivision. As per Settlers, water pressure has been cut back by 30% to conserve water so that there will be irrigation water available until at/around the 1st of September. Normally, the irrigation company provides water until the 2nd week of October every year. Settlers also noted that because there is such heavy use at times (night & early morning), the irrigation pump shuts down. Until yesterday, the irrigation company would reset/restart the pump when called on a 24 hour basis but now they will only reset/restart the pump once per day at/about mid-morning so if the pump goes down any time after mid morning, water will not be available until mid morning of the next day.
Three years ago, Settlers Irrigation published a homeowner irrigation schedule which was presented to the Saguaro Canyon homeowners on two different occasions. Most of the homeowners elected not to implement this schedule but this schedule becomes more critical this year to maintain irrigation water pressure and have ample water for everyone through at least the 1st of September. This schedule is still on the Snake River web link page for Saguaro Canyon with a link to Settlers Irrigation that covers in detail, by address, the watering times in the subdivision. We would highly encourage that you follow this schedule. Your access to this schedule can be obtained by going to www.snakeriverhoa.com, click on Subdivision, click on Saguaro Canyon, go to almost the bottom of the page and click on Settlers Irrigation and follow their prompts.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Saguaro Canyon Subdivision

Update on 2nd Pool
The board has met with the pool contractor twice in efforts to see if we could bring down the costs to build a second pool within our budget. The budget we are trying to work with is $150,000 with a $50,000 contribution from BHH. The bids came in $30,000 over budget.
Yes, we could build just any pool at that cost but we won't. We would like to carry the same integrity and look as the pool we have. So at this point in time the board has made the decision to set aside the money into a 'pool reserve' account and continue to build up the money for the 2nd pool and try again in 3-5 years.

Keep an eye out ... please
Here is some interesting info from or neighbors in Paramount:
At about 3:45 this morning I caught someone on our street in Paramount (Arliss) running from car to car checking for unlocked vehicles. I called the police but unfortunately it took them about 20 minutes to respond. To their credit, when they finally did arrive there were 3 police cars driving around looking for the person, who went down Barrymore. As I was on the phone with the police for the second time he ran west on Cayuse Creek toward my house. He started to run up to my porch to find a place to hide, which is very well lit, but then decided to continue west out of the neighborhood.
There was also a silver Pontiac G6 that was driving continually down Arliss, Barrymore, and Cayuse Creek during this time also. They went back and from down those streets about 6 times. It appeared that the car and the person checking car doors was connected...my hunch is that they were his ride.
One of the officers stopped and talked to me and said there were a lot of car dome lights on in the neighborhood, so this person was obviously able to gain access to numerous vehicles. The officer also commented about how many people leave their cars unlocked.
This is the second time in the past few months that I have caught someone trying to break into cars on our street, so I think it is safe to say that it is happening with some regularity. I know it seems like common sense, but please lock your cars if you park them outside. Also, make sure burned out light bulbs are replaced to keep areas as well lit as possible.
